A: What’s happening here is, your ears are becoming more sensitive to the nuances of the microphone. This is a completely normal and common reaction when you play with new audio gear. It takes time to know a mic, and “tune in” to its tonal characteristics.

With any microphone on the earth —be it USB or analog, condenser or dynamic—any time you move your sound source away from the diaphragm you will hear variances in the signal. This is referred to as being “off axis”.
