In this article, we are going to share some tips on how to get better sound quality for voiceover recording and how to improve your overall performance.
- Choosing a suitable microphone
To achieve high quality audio, you need to choose the right microphone. Condenser and dynamic microphones are ideal for voiceover recording.
Condenser microphones
Condenser microphones are great for voice over work in a professional or home studio with proper acoustic and sound proofing treatment. They are very sensitive and will pick up all mouth clicks and room noise while recording. Condenser microphones require carefully handle since their recording quality may be reduced after some time due to saliva or humidity in the recording room. - Place your microphone in the right position

- Set proper microphone level
If the input from the microphone is set too high, then the signal will exceed the capacity of the recording hardware or software, and “clipping” will occur. Clipping creates distortion at each portion of the recording that exceeds the acceptable level for the hardware and software.
To set the proper level, speak into the microphone in the same manner as you will perform the voiceover and monitor the meter level indicators of the audio interface. Make sure the microphone input does not exceed the clipping limit and adjust the microphone gain/level control until you achieve a desirable level.
